Highlights:

California City is a city incorporated in 1965 in the northern Antelope Valley in Kern County, California, 65 miles southwest of Death Valley National Park. The population was 14,120 at the 2010 census. The city lies north of Los Angeles within an easy hours’ commute to northern Los Angeles.  It also lies east of Bakersfield, California and north of Lancaster, California.  Lancaster provides many of the shops and amenities not in California City. Edwards Air Force Base lies just south of the City. 

 

The center of California City is an eighteen hole public golf course open to all.  However, this is a complete community with a city government, services like fire and police, schools, parks, businesses, shopping, and an airport.  California City is a planned community, laid out in a fashion to make it easy to get around and easy to enjoy family life in the single family homes that are located there.

 

The gateway to California City is California City Boulevard, that connects to State Highways 14 and 25.  State Highway 14 connects California City to Lancaster and Palmdale, while State Highway 58 runs west to east from Bakersfield to Barstow.  Within the community, most of the streets are paved and well kept, however, there are a few unpaved streets.  Water and sewer services are provided by the City.

 

The surrounding area provides many attractions.  Mountain parks and forests lie all around the city, with mountain views in every direction.  Desert flora and fauna abound in the area and Death Valley National Park is an easy hours’ drive to the northeast.  The southern part of the Sierra Nevada Mountains lie just to the north of the city.  And Bakersfield is the gateway to the San Fernando Valley.
